Ciro partnered with Hughes Electronics for GM's pioneering EV-1 electric car. The charging station was part of GM's attempt to build out it's network of public and private charging stations.
The objective of the project was to design a freestanding electric car charging station that would reflect the high technology residing inside the unit while conveying an approachable, easy to use image.
The charging system featured a wireless charging technology that was safe to consumers and posed no safety risks. The Magne Charge induction paddle was inserted between the headlights on the EV-1.
The design objective for the 3rd generation charging station was to create a distinctive design for GM’s new, smaller freestanding charger.
